ROUTES & ATTRACTIONS IN KYTHNOS

Located next to Attica and yet remains one of the quietest corners of the Aegean, although it has history evoking even 10,000 years ago. Chora Kithnos stands tall with its white house’s stand out in the barren landscape of the island.

The Loutra are the spearhead of hotel infrastructure of Kythnos. There are several rooms and hotels that give large picture resort. All along the beach there are many taverns and small bars that give a sense of cosmopolitan. Scenic spot in Chora is Messaria square with cafes, ouzo shops and the church. The Merichas is the first village that welcomes us in Kythnos while Dryopida inland surprisingly tiled roofs the houses!

Panagia Kanala is favorite villages in Kythnos, with pinewood seem surprising that there is a Cycladic island! The spa is the most developed tourist village owes their existence to the thermal baths.

The island has around beaches. The most exotic is the Colona, where a small strip of land connects Kythnos with the island of St. Luke. The beach Apokrousi is the biggest in Kythnos, while the area is full of archaeological treasures.

In Dryopida visit the Cave Katafyki, one of the largest in Greece, the Holy Trinity, built by pitchers for reasons of sound and the Byzantine and the Folklore Museum.

A rocky hill in Katakefalo promontory is the castle of Oria, capital of Kythnos on Byzantines and Venetians. Within the castle there are remains of hundreds of buildings.

Nikou Virgin Marys Monastery historic monastery played an important educational role in the island especially in past centuries.

If you have a boat or another boat you can visit many virgin beaches with sand. Generally known beaches are Episkopi, the Mavrianos the Trivlaka, Agios Stefanos, Naoussa, Kouri, Agios Dimitrios with lilies! Beaches with beautiful sandy beaches and traditional tavernas like Flampouria, the diocese, the Poplars, Schinari, Agios Dimitris. In all these beaches taverns that host friends and tourists. The island has many beaches and is ideal for quiet family and youth vacations. From Mericha start the two main routes on the island. One leads to the Hora (7.5 km) and continues to the Loutra (4.5 km) and Ayia Irini. The other leads from Merihas the second of two large villages, Dryopida (4.5 km) and from there to the summer village of the famous miraculous Virgin Kavalas (6.5 km) and Agios Dimitrios (11km from the intersection of the road to Kanala up the bay).
